As a designer, it is key not only to know who you are designing for, but who they are reaching as a brand with the designs. A design can be beautiful, decorative, and meaningful. Without meaning, a design will fail.
In my social media marketing class this semester, we are learning the importance of knowing your target audience. As with designing, social media marketing hinges on catering to a particular audience, which can differ from platform to platform. A post, even if it is elegantly structured and has clever captions, but does not resonate with an audience, then it is not going to gain their attention or business.
Knowing your target audience is critical with any piece of design work or marketing you are intending to put out there.
