Sometimes, the resulting color from the overprinting of two other colors is a desired effect, as two inks overlap to create a third color, but sometimes it is not. Trapping would prevent the appearance of the “unintentional third color.”

- Create two squares using the rectangle tool and holding down Shift
- Fill one square with 50% cyan and the other with 100% magenta and offset over each other
- Create 3 “A”s
- Fill the first with 50% magenta, the second one with 50% cyan, and the third with 100% cyan and 100% magenta
- Overlap the three “A”s, with the 50% cyan first in the upper left, the 50% next in the lower right, and center the mixed “A” last
