I have never been into social media, having been in my late teens before I got any social media platform. It never really interested me, and the only reason I downloaded it was that it was how my friends communicated.

Now, as I scroll through reels, posts, and stories, I notice that trends seemingly pop up out of nowhere. One minute, it is nonexistent, and the next, everyone is doing a specific dance to a sound, and if you don’t, you’re irrelevant.

Where do these trends come from? How does someone invent them? How does a trend become a trend? It’s a strange phenomenon how some things seem to catch the wind and spread through every social media platform.
